When I first learned to write in elementary school, I had beautiful penmanship. It got worse and worse gradually, until by my senior year of high school it was bad enough that when I turned in a term paper my teacher complained that my handwriting was spidery, that I should have typed it up instead.
Now I am 33 years old. A few years ago, I began noticing that my handwriting is so bad now that it is barely legible, even to me. I noticed this: when I write in cursive, oftentimes my hand twitches and so it messes up my handwriting. It's not so much as extreme as a twitch actually, it's more just my hand is kind of jumpy -- it might just be an issue of anxiety, as I do suffer from a number of psychological disorders, and I am anxiety-prone.
It just seems that my control of my hand is less now than when I was younger.
But I do want to post this question, just to be on the safe side, because as I get older it seems I am having less and less control of my hand: could I possibly be suffering from some kind of a degenerative disease that might affect the nervous system?
I am taking a neuroleptic for one of my conditions(it's not the first neuroleptic I've taken -- I have been on several one after another, for the last 10 years), and I understand that prolonged use of such a medication can cause tardive dyskenisia. Could that be it?
Many thanks,
C.L.
