Blaster Worm on Win XP Home |

I am helping a friend with a problem. I suspect a blaster worm. I went to see if windows patches were up to date. She has never updated windows, so she needed many patches. I ran them and left (with the computer on) because she has a dial up connection and it was goint to take to long. Later a message from Norton appeared "Norton has found a virus that it cannot repair". Virus definitions update automatically on her machine. Now Win XP contiously boots and reboots. She does not need just the patch that plugs the hole in windows, she needs all patches. (About a years worth). Can I download to my machine all patches, burn it to a disk and install it on her machine? Win patches self-install but you may know of a cumulative patch.
Or do I search for blaster file with her Internet connection unplugged and delete any blaster.exe files as a first step?
I have read up on this but the situation about no windows patches (critical) being installed is a troublesome one.
Any help would be appreciated. John
