JVC as Good as Panasonic? |

Are JVC products at least as reliable as Panasonic? I have been told in a response to a similar question I posted here before that other factors should be taken into account, such as quality of a manufacturer's customer support.
But all I am interested in here is how long a product is expected to last before it breaks down. So would you please answer the question in terms of only mechanical reliability?
Many thanks,
C.L.

This has to do with the MTFB (google that) of a product. And products are made to remain reliable during their guarantee period.
Today many products carry a 2 or even 5 year guarantee period. So you can count on that period to be correct. The famous "Bath tub curve" is used in service circles.
First very short vertical peak due to initial repairs, and than a long horizontal period of failure free usage, and than a slowly rising repair need due to ageing and usage.
That curve is also the reason why guarantee extensions are always for max. 5 years .....
Take it from a retired technical factory manager of electronic equipment!
