Tomatoes Ccl471 12/03/06
My 8th grade health teacher told my class that his grandfather told him that eating too many tomatoes can kill you.

He said that tomatoes contain something(he didn't remember what it was, let's say it is some mineral) that once it enters your body the mineral does not ever leave the body, so that each time you eat a tomato the mineral accumulates in your body. And when you get enough of that mineral in your body, it kills you.

But he said that in order for you to die that way, you'd have to eat quite a few tomatoes each day, so most people would not be at risk of dying that way.

By the way, my teacher did not mention if his grandfather was a doctor or a nutritionist, so I don't know if he had any expertise on this matter.

    Was my teacher's grandfather right?

    Many thanks,

    C.L.
