Dear Curious98:
Thank you for responding to my question.
Well, from your answer, I can see that European unification is a lot closer than most might think, but when do you think the EU will make it official that Europe has become "The United States of Europe?"
Thanks again,
C.L.

The first step to accomplish is to determine the total amount of States that would form those United States of Europe.
We have some applications pending of decision, such as that of Turkey (which would represent an increase of close to 100 million people) or Rumania, Ukrania, etc.
I think that the final total might be of 30 or 35 States, with an addtional increase of population of close to 200 millions.
We may need another 15 years to consolidate this final situation which is about right if we have to be prepared for the arrival of China, who is dreaming of becoming the new world leader and its industry is growing at a most extraordinary pace.
In another 15 years they will reach 1.4 billion, i.e. almost 4,5 times your population, and only India (with some 1.2 billion) and The U.S of Europe (with some 700 or 750 million, and by them probably the number one economic power) may face the Chinese power.
But this is just wishful thinking on my side.
Nobody can tell for sure when this will actually happen.
Regards
