Government intelligence passed to businesses |
denberg |
11/01/03 |
I remember reading something in the paper ages ago (I've since lost the paper) that said that in France intelligence from the French secret service is passed routinely to French business, as opposed to in Britain, where this does not happen.
Can anyone tell me more about this? |
Clarification/Follow-up by denberg on 11/02/03 5:52 am: What does the USA do to stop the French?
Clarification/Follow-up by 113053 on 11/02/03 1:11 pm: Dear Denberg, The agencies that I mentioned each have sections or departments within their respective agencies that are set up to handle these sort of criminal charges. For example, the Commerce Department uses their Import/Export Control Section to handle complaints of both copyright infringement and industrial espionage. They then refer their investigation to the FBI who then does their investigation (not every investigation warrants charges). When they complete it and have found sufficient evidence; they then turn it over to the U.S. Attorney General's office for prosecution. The U.S. has NO one office that deals strictly with industrial espionage or copyright infringement. This should clarify the answer I gave to you earlier. May God Bless-Major Robert A.
