    1.If the aspirin that you have prepared gave a positive test for phenol, which of the following reasons could contribute to the positive test for phenol? Explain your answer.
    i. The aspirin structure contains a phenol group.
    ii. It is contaminated with salicylic acid
    iii. It is contaminated with acetic anhydride.
    iv. It is contaminated with sulphuric acid

    2. If a student washed the solid aspirin with hot water instead of ice water. How would this influence the percentage yield of the isolated aspirin compared to that obtained if ice water had been used? Would the yield be increased, decreased, or unaffected? Explain your answer.
