I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and have been for over 30 years,so obviously I think its a great idea, let me explain what happened to me when the Witnesses called--

I was 19 and attending church regularly but I had many questions that just were not being answered, questions such as; "why is God permitting wickedness and why do I see hypocrisy within the church?"

so when the Witnesses told me the bible answers such questions, I was interested to know more, I started to study the bible with them and within 3 months I knew more about the bible, than all the years I had attended church.

My minister was concerned (as you are) and came down to visit me, I put some straight questions to him; "why do you stand up in your church and tell people lies, lies such as; "if your good you go to heaven and if your bad you go to hell?" and I passed him a bible and asked him to show me where it says this, he answered; "IT DOESNT"

"Then why do you teach it" I said, he replied; "Its a job, if I really told people what the bible says they wouldnt want to hear it, they would turn me off like a tap, because I would be telling them how they should live their lives"

Your family are in no danger, all they will learn is what the bible REALLY says and they will be able to compare it with what the churches teach and come to their own conclusions.

all the best
